Memphis, Tennessee by William Eggleston (1971)

This photograph titled “Memphis, Tennessee” was captured by artist William Eggleston in 1971. The image shows a collection of small, colorful plastic toy animals positioned on a reflective surface. There are four animals in total, constituting a yellow bird, a bright blue hippopotamus, a blue goat, and a red ox with blue horns. The surface on which the animals are placed seems to be worn with scratches and smudges, catching and reflecting light. The whimsical arrangement of the toys and the play of light result in a composition that combines vivid colors with the gritty details of the surface, capturing a moment both striking and ordinary.
